Introducing the New Colnaghi Website
Discover exhibitions, catalogues, restoration, research and selected works available online
Festina lente. Make haste slowly. The motto appears throughout the Renaissance, nowhere more memorably than in the anchor and dolphin of Aldus Manutius, whose Venetian press demonstrated that making books more accessible need not come at the expense of either scholarship or craftsmanship. It is a useful principle, and one that has lost remarkably little of its relevance. Works of art still reward slow looking, even if the ways in which we find them have become rather quicker. Our new website has been designed with much the same ambition: to make it easier to find what you are looking for, while making it likely that you will discover something you were not.
The new site brings together every aspect of Colnaghi’s activity within a single structure, allowing visitors to move easily between artworks, exhibitions, fairs, publications, restoration and news from the gallery.
Every exhibition, past and present, is now available online, with installation photography, curatorial texts and selected works. Fair presentations have likewise been brought together into a single archive, making it possible to revisit our stands and the works exhibited at each event.
All of our catalogues and publications are now collected in one place, from exhibition catalogues and digital publications to all editorial content, creating a single library that can be browsed online.
Colnaghi is also one of the few international galleries with an in-house restoration department. The new Restoration section offers an overview of the department, its areas of expertise, and the role conservation continues to play in the care, study and presentation of works of art.
Selected works are now available to purchase directly through the website. While many works continue to be offered by enquiry, a growing selection can now be acquired online through our new e-commerce platform.
